There’s nothing more timeless than a Valentine’s Day dinner at a romantic French restaurant, and Yelp Boston has named our pick the #1 Date Night spot for Valentine’s Day! Deuxave (pronounced DOO-auve), conceived by Mr. Sid client Chef Chris Coombs and restaurateur Brian Piccini, is known for its modern take on traditional French cuisine that is prepared with the finest ingredients from the best local sources.

Located at the trendy corner of Commonwealth and Massachusetts Avenues, Deuxave offers a unique dining experience complete with an excellent wine program, impeccable service, and an elegant dining room. Enchante. http://www.deuxave.com/

& What to Eat

Valentine's day

As George Bernard Shaw once said, “there is no sincerer love than the love of food.” Mr. Sid believes truer words were never spoken. To begin the night’s affair, we recommend the “Duet of Prime Beef Tartare & Wagyu Carpaccio”, featuring an Herb-Encrusted Wagyu Beef, Hanley Style Prime Tartare, Quail Egg Yolk, Mushroom Escabèche, Potato Gaufrettes, Cornichons, and Rosemary-Mustard Aioli. For the main, we suggest ordering the “Pan-Seared Scallops”, served with Grilled Grapefruit, Crispy Pork Belly, Fennel Pesto, Parsnip Purée, and a Meyer Lemon Emulsion. You can’t skip dessert on Valentine’s Day, so go ahead and order the “Chocolate Souffle”, featuring a Grand Marnier Anglaise and Vanilla Glace.

valentine's drink

Whether it’s your first date or your twentieth, a good drink keeps the conversation flowing. And because Deuxave’s drink menu is so vast and inspired, it’s hard to just order one…Pick your poison: “Matcha Belafonte” with Matcha Infused Vodka, Lime, Egg White; “Two Avenues” with Rye Whiskey, Calvados, Passion Fruit; or, “Le Pomme Tombe” with Mad River Rum, Vanilla, Lemon, Apple Cider.

What to Wear

Most of us equate “dressing up” (i.e. wearing a suit and tie) with romance; however, we’d like to suggest that you skip the suit this V-Day. Instead, impress your date with an outfit featuring fresh, unexpected colors and patterns like this textural shawl collar sweater over a vibrant purple checked button-up. Keep your bottom half neutral with a trim, flat front cotton pant in tan. Finish it off with a colorful shoe and fun sock and you’re romance-ready–just don’t forget the flowers and chocolates!
